Do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Romans 6:3
The Christian sacrament of baptism in water identifies outwardly the inward occurrence of our death, burial, and resurrection with Christ. Our death is now synonymous with Christ’s death, and our new life is now bound to Christ's resurrected life. This inward spiritual act is accomplished by God the Holy Spirit as we turn to God by faith in Jesus Christ's finished sacrifice. Water baptism recognizes and glorifies God because of that regenerated change.
Every few months we are able to celebrate this change of heart, this healing of soul, this forgiveness of sins, this restoration of relationships, this work of God, in our baptism service. Ten people, young and old, sons and daughters, joined with many from the church to celebrate Christ’s work in their lives this Sunday March 13th.
