Mission Nicaragua | August 2010 Update
Monday April 9th 2012
We´ve been in Nicaragua for 4 weeks! God has been good to us. We are in a beautiful location. We have visited family in Esteli and Managua. We miss our children and grandchildren very much and are so thankful for Skype.
We are still settling in our temp home and will soon be moving to the Casita so many wonderful pe...ople have worked on. God provided us with a used Toyota dual cabin truck that is in very good condition. Makes it so nice to get around.
The first two weeks we spent with Calvary Chapel Washington. They were so helpful to us in getting to know people and the area of La Garita and San Ramon by doing prayer walks. They were encouraging and enthusiastic inviting people to the services and worked very hard and fast on the Casita and painted beautiful murals for the children. They blessed so many people with medical and dental care.
Last week we had the pleasure of meeting local pastors at a welcoming party Brenda Rose had for us. We just visited one pastor today in Matagalpa.
We were able to minister to two families. Alex and his family (the orphans), Nancy will post a story soon. Pastor Wayne, Pastor Brett and Marisol met a man (Salome) on a prayer walk who needed medical attention. Yesterday we were able to take him to the clinic for treatment for an advanced ulcer on his leg. It was very painful and he almost fainted, he held on to us so tightly. He´s a sweet christian man.
We know it´s God´s will for us to be here without any doubts. Everyday is exciting and Filemon thanks God for the birds being his alarm before 5 am. We thank God for people being open and having a hunger for the Word of God.
We´ve had three Sunday services. Next week we will begin ministering to the staff of the clinic and the renutrional center. We will also be working with a Canadian team next week.
We´re still adjusting to the culture and learning how to get things done here.
Seeing so much poverty is overwhelming at times. Marisol can get very drained. She´s learning to give those burdens to God.
Please pray with us for:
- Alex and his family (orphans). Their aunt is seeking legal advice for custody and compensation from the electric company. The children do not want to stay with their grandparents.
- Complete healing for Salome´s leg. He has bad circulation and hasn´t worked formore than a year. For God´s provision for his family until he can work.
- Evaristo to find steady work during the week so he doesn´t miss Sunday services.
- For God to bring the people who are going to be the foundation of this church.
- For the young ladies who are planning to do mission work with us. Brittany and Briana (from California).
- For our son Daniel to find a good job in California or North Carolina.
Thank you for your prayers and support!
En Cristo,
Filemon and Marisol Montoya
