This is currently my second semester at Calvary Bible College Seattle and I am very thankful to be here. I think personally one area that I have grown in the most is in public speaking. We have a class every Friday called public devotional speaking, and every week we are given a topic from the Bible to give a five minute teaching on. Upon entering the class for the first time last semester I thought that I was going to have an easy time because I thought I was naturally gifted at public speaking, however I was very wrong. Public Devotional Speaking (P.D.S.) was probably one of the hardest and most challenging classes on my schedule. I quickly found out that it is very stressful and intimidating to get up in front of the class and have then to put the given topic into a well thought out five minute teaching. My very first assignment was a disaster to say to least. But as the class progressed, I found that I begin to grow. I learned that teaching the Bible can be extremely difficult and takes much preparation both natural and spiritual.
Now in the second semester of the same class I have definitely seen much growth from the first day until now. I have come to realize that teaching the Bible is not just a hobby you pick up or a skill you learn, but it is something that you have to continually develop as you grow deeper in your relationship with God and in the knowledge of the Word always relying not on human wisdom but on the Holy Spirit to speak through you with His power. I am very excited to see the growth and continued fruit from this semester and for the rest of my life.
