Squished. This is the adjective that would currently describe the 8 members of Proto Evangelion. In our modified 15-passenger van, a mountain of equipment (including guitars, amps, a keyboard, violin, and cello) divides the driver from the 7 other band members, all snugly fit in the back two bench seats of the van.
Such has been the scene each time we (that is, Wayne, Riley, Pam, Jesse, Collin, Natalie, Nick, Peter, and myself) travel to or from a service to lead worship. For the past 8 days, we have played at a church the size of a city block, enjoyed the overwhelming hospitality of our Southern Californian brothers and sisters in Christ...(click for more)

Suncadia Resort--Cle Elum, WA
One couldn't imagine a better location to celebrate marriage and a time for spouses to share in relaxation than at the Suncadia Lodge, nestled in the Cascade mountain range. There were 65 couples in attendance at the 2010 Calvary Fellowship marriage retreat that featured guest speakers, Brad and Marilyn Rhoads from Owensboro, Kentucky...(click for more)

The Colossal Noogie, our annual Junior High retreat, consists of a bunch of students, leaders, and some messiness. The 2010 Noogie was a great time and no exception to this rule. Games were not just fun little activities and food was not just plain nourishment. Students participated in a game of life-size battleship with bombs (water balloons), missiles (water launchers) and ridiculous chaos....(click for more)

My grandmother Filomena lived to be 89 years old. She lived in my neighborhood most of my life, so I enjoyed the time spent and the many meals I shared with her. I didn’t realize it then, but she taught me a lot about food, family, and fellowship....(click for more)
This is currently my second semester at Calvary Bible College Seattle and I am very thankful to be here. I think personally one area that I have grown in the most is in public speaking. We have a class every Friday called public devotional speaking, and every week we are given a topic from the Bible to give a five minute teaching on. Upon entering the class for the first time last semester I thought that I was going to have an easy time because I thought I was naturally gifted at public speaking, however I was very wrong...(click for more)
Missiological musings; teaching, Easter and the Nature of God.
One thing we have been learning in our Introduction to Missiology course is that we gain a better understanding of the nature of God by reading the bible with a missiological hermeneutic. That is reading the bible with the glasses of mission on. In so doing we see that God is and has always been going out of Himself towards others. He has always been ‘missional’. We see it in the revelation of His triune nature as each member in turn loves, serves, honors and glorifies the other...(click for more)
The Activist Doctor
Dr. O's radical roots run deep. Liberal grassroots activism was instilled by her mother, but Dr. O preferred to make her mark by practicing medicine rather than demonstrating at rallies. "I love what I do, it allows my political activism to be my day-to-day life."...(click for more)
It's a baby
Dr. O, MD, took a brief pause to open up her lecture to questions from the audience. A young woman asked about the stages of fetal development. "It's first an embryo, and then somewhere in the 8 to 10 week range... it becomes a fetus," Dr. O explained, "and in medicine, not until it's born, does it becomes a baby. If you're a woman having a baby you want to have, it's a baby from the minute you know it's still an embryo."...(click for more)
Abortion by pill
I didn't know what to expect. After taking my seat in a room full of young women, I looked through our handout, trying to find my place in the lecture. "Medical Abortions...up to 9 weeks...Mifepristone...Misoprostol...uterine contractions..."
At the front to the room stood Dr. O, MD, who runs a private practice, in Seattle...(click for more)
The Lord always tends to have a theme for each of my semesters at Bible College. Trust was my first, love was my second, (and then I went from Murrieta up to Seattle for my last two semesters) redemption claimed my third and sanctification would definitely have to be the main focus on my final semester. My eyes were opened last semester in the fact that I was living by works and not my faith...(click for more)
